About GCDD

The Georgia Council on Developmental Disabilities (GCDD) is the state's leader in advancing public policy on behalf of persons with developmental disabilities (DD). We are a federally funded, independent state agency that works with legislators and advocacy groups to influence and support public policy that fosters a positive change in the way education, housing, workplace/careers and community living opportunities are made available to people with DD.

Five Year Strategic Plan

The Five Year Strategic Plan determines how the GCCD will allocate funding to create systems change for individuals with developmental disabilities (DD) and family members through advocacy and capacity building activities.

The Council

Our activities are governed by a 27-member board, called The Council, which includes at least 60 percent individuals with developmental disabilities (DD) and family members. Members are appointed by the Governor. Other members include agency/organization representatives with an interest in people with DD.

DD Network

The DD Network consists of three partners in each state and territory authorized under the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act of 2000 (the DD Act) and administered by the Administration on Developmental Disabilities (ADD).

GCDD Meetings

GCDD Council members meet quarterly to learn what is happening in Georgia and around the nation for people with developmental disabilities and their families. Members spend time discussing best or promising practices, hearing from projects funded by GCDD, and conducting business to be an effective and efficient organization.

Annual Reports

GCDD provides an annual report summarizing the Council's activities accomplished during each federal fiscal year. The report includes highlights of projects funded by GCDD grants and updates on other activities of GCDD.
